This page details my Lego NASA Artemis Space Launch System build. The Lego NASA Artemis kit arrived early on 16th May 2024 due to my Lego Insider Membership and took two days to complete between 18/05/2024 and 19/05/2024.
The Lego item number is 10341 and the kit consists of 3601 pieces. For details of the other Lego kits that I have completed so far see the main Lego Collection page of this website.
Build Details
Weighing in at 3601 pieces this is probably the most complex of the five Lego builds that I have undertaken so far. A small plaque comes with the finished model which you can display along side it in a similar fashion to the recent Concorde and Space Shuttle Discovery Lego kits.
The finished rocket and launch tower stands at 70cm and is an impressive model when assembled. The whole build took two days to complete between 18th and the 19th of May 2024. Overall, the build was straight forward and the instructions clear and easy to follow but certain parts of the launch tower build process were somewhat repetitive; I suppose that this is unavoidable in a kit of this size and complexity.
It is also worth noting that the finished rocket (not launch tower) contains some stickers which have to be added to the solid rocket boosters. This process is fiddly, and you have to make sure that the stickers on both booster rockets align. A minor criticism, but it would be better if these parts were pre-printed in my opinion.
Summary
The build process was overall a fun experience, and the finished model is a wonderful addition to my Lego collection. It is a shame though that the completed model is not to the same scale as the previously released (and now retired) Lego Saturn V rocket which stands at an impressive 1 metre tall.
This is a Lego kit that I have been waiting for, for a very long time and I am extremely satisfied with the finished product. More space kits please Lego. :-)
